Concert Choir

Our New Director – Ms. Claire Ma 🙂

Mrs. Claire Ma is a recent transplant from the mid-west to the mid-atlantic.  She is originally from Iowa and completed her undergrad work at Iowa State University.  While at Iowa State she studied k-12 general, choral and instrumental music education.  After graduating, she moved to Madison, Wisconsin where she taught k-8 general and choral music in the Madison Metropolitan School District.  She accepted a job offer to teach 9-12 choral music with the Deforest Area School District.  While working for DeForest, she lead her choral department which included 3 curricular ensembles as well as annual solo and ensemble opportunities.  She was involved in her school’s bi-annual musical and lead an extra-curricular show choir.

While in Madison, Mrs. Ma also lead an adult church choir for 5 years and has sung as a soloist and chorister in the Madison and surrounding areas.

Most recently, Mrs. Ma completed a Masters of Science in Education with an emphasis on choral conducting at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.  While working on her masters degree, she was able to conduct 5 undergrad ensembles as well as present as a feature conductor leading the orchestra and choir during the winter gala concert.

She is excited to continue her teaching career working with the Verona School District as she focuses on supporting the choral music education of all students.
