Get Involved

It takes a village — and then some!

The Verona Music Parents Association relies on parents and volunteers to help support our students and music programs throughout the year. There are many ways to get involved, with opportunities ranging from occasional help to more regular participation.

Whether you can volunteer a lot or a little, every contribution helps. Volunteering is also a great way to meet other parents and be part of the community that helps make the Verona Music Program the best experience possible for our students.

Marching Band Pit Crew

Marching Band season requires plenty of helping hands, and the Pit Crew plays an important role in making every performance run smoothly.

The Pit Crew is a team of parent volunteers who help move, load, unload, and position Marching Band equipment before and after halftime shows and competitions.

Pit Crew volunteers may help with:

  • Drum sets and percussion equipment
  • Xylophones and other large instruments
  • Props and field equipment
  • Loading and unloading equipment
  • Moving equipment on and off the field
  • Supporting the band before and after performances

You can volunteer for the entire marching band season or help on a week-by-week basis. The Pit Crew team leader works with Marching Band staff, coordinates volunteer sign-ups, and organizes the crew for each event.

A Great View of the Show

One of the best perks of joining the Pit Crew is getting to be right on the field with the Verona Marching Maroon and White during performances. Pit Crew volunteers also receive free admission to competitions while working with the crew.

If you’re interested in joining the Pit Crew, we’d love to have you!

Other Volunteer Opportunities

The Pit Crew is only one of the many ways parents can help. VMPA needs volunteers throughout the year for performances, events, fundraising, student activities, and other programs.
